Five places to add to your Canadian Bucket List
This week Canada dropped all covid restrictions, meaning it is now easier for tourists to travel and explore this remarkable country. From 1st October all covid restrictions including providing proof of vaccination, wearing a mask and random testing have been scrapped.
Now Covid travel restrictions to Canada have relaxed, we take a look at five places you need to add to your Canadian bucket list.
1. Banff National Park
In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, is the captivating Banff National Park. No matter what time of year you visit, you will be mesmerised by the dramatic scenery that surrounds you. The park has something for everyone from art galleries and museums to hiking and scenic drives. Depending on what time of the year you visit, you can also experience everything from sleigh rides and skiing to climbing and biking. It even has its very own hot springs!
2. Niagara Falls
Did you know the best views of the falls are from Canada? Unlike the American side, you can see three sections of the falls; the concave, the Horseshoe falls and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls. There are a number of ways to see the natural beauty of the falls from a cruise, white water walks or by Whirlpool Aero Car. You can even journey behind the falls. If you have an adventurous sole, why not zipline at Wild Play Zipline? From the Niagara Glen there are a number of hiking trails overlooking the rapids, which also provides a 32-mile bike ride with stunning views ending in the historic Niagara on the Lake.
3. Whistler
Two hours from Vancouver is the renowned ski resort – Whistler Blackcomb. This year-round destination is a popular ski resort in the Winter and most recently has become a popular resort for golf and mountain biking come Summer. Whistler Blackcomb was the location of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and has 8,100 acres of snow-covered slopes. With 16 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers and more than 200 marked trails, it is a skier’s paradise. Whistler has something for the whole family with tubing, bobsledding and ice skating up for grabs. If winter sports don’t capture your heart, fear not. Whistler is also home to après and nightlife as well as a gourmet food scene with more than 170 restaurants.
4. Toronto
Discover a range of culinary delights in over 7,500 restaurants across the city with everything from a Michelin Star restaurant to Asian night markets and eateries. Sports fans can explore Toronto’s variety of teams and venues from hockey, baseball, basketball and football to name but a few. Catch a game live or watch in Real Sports, The Dock Ellis or Billiards Academy & Sports Lounge. Toronto has everything from concert halls and museums to zoos and world-class aquariums. No matter what the season, there is something new to see and do whatever your tastes.
5. Old Quebec
Travel back over 400 years in the UNESCO World Heritage site – Old Quebec. The only walled city North of America, is brimming with a rich history that is waiting to be discovered. Make sure you have some comfy shoes packed as you walk the cobbled streets of the birthplace of French North America. Stroll through one of the oldest shopping streets in North America, Petit-Champlain before hitting the shops and marina of Old Port.
