Compare Travel Insurance

Compare Travel Insurance from our panel of insurers and find cover that suits you and your holiday. We’ll show you the policies available based on the details you give us, so you can compare the price, benefits, cover limits and excess.

  • Compare prices and cover from multiple insurers
  • Options for older travellers and medical conditions
  • Single Trip and Annual Multi-Trip policies available
  • Choose from 3 levels of cover across multiple insurers

Compare More Than Just the Price

Price is important when comparing Travel Insurance, but it’s also important to understand what you’re getting for your money. Policies can have different cover limits, excesses, benefits and exclusions, even when the prices look similar.

The policies available can also depend on you and your holiday. Your age, medical history, destination, trip length and the type of holiday you’re taking can all affect your options.

Tell us about you and your travel plans and we’ll show you the policies available from our panel of insurers. You can then compare your options and choose the cover that suits your needs.

The Traveller

Who needs cover, their age and any pre-existing medical conditions can affect the policies available and the price.

The Holiday

Where you’re going, how long you’ll be away, the cost of your holiday and what you have planned can all affect the cover you need.

The Policy

Cover limits, excesses, exclusions and additional benefits vary between policies, so look at what’s included as well as the price.

What to Compare When Choosing Travel Insurance

Use the same trip and traveller information for each quote, then review these areas side by side.

Cancellation Cover

Match the cancellation limit to the non-refundable cost per person. Include prepaid transport, accommodation, excursions and other booked costs lost after an insured cancellation.

Emergency Medical Expenses and Repatriation

Check how much cover is provided for emergency medical treatment abroad and that medically necessary repatriation is included.

Medical Conditions Included

Make sure you’ve declared all the medical conditions requested during medical screening. Your quote results will then reflect the policies available based on the medical information you’ve provided.

Excess

Check how much you would need to pay towards a claim. Excesses vary between policies and may apply differently depending on the benefit or number of people claiming.

Baggage and Valuable Items

Check the overall baggage limit as well as the maximum amount covered for an individual item, particularly if you’re travelling with valuable belongings.

Trip Length and Destinations

Make sure the policy covers your full travel dates and all the destinations you plan to visit. If you’re choosing Annual Multi-Trip cover, check the maximum length allowed for each individual holiday.

For worldwide cover, check whether your chosen region includes destinations such as the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

Cruises, Winter Sports and Activities

If you’re going on a cruise, skiing, snowboarding or planning other activities, tell us when getting your quote. We’ll only show you policies that include the cover requirements you’ve selected.

Travel Disruption and Missed Departure

Check what cover is included if your journey is delayed or you miss your departure. The reasons covered, how long you need to be delayed and the amount you can claim vary between policies, so compare these alongside the other benefits.

How to Compare Your Travel Insurance Options

We’ll show you the policies available from our panel based on the information you’ve provided. From there, you can compare your options before choosing your cover.

1. Check Who and What is Covered

Make sure everyone you want on the policy is included, along with the correct travel dates and destinations. If you’ve declared medical conditions, check the medical information is correct.

2. Compare the Main Benefits and Limits

Look at the cover available for emergency medical expenses, cancellation, baggage and anything else that matters for your holiday.

3. Look at the Excess

Check how much you would need to pay towards a claim and how the excess applies.

4. Check Any Additional Cover

Make sure the policy includes any additional cover you’ve selected, such as Cruise or Winter Sports cover.

5. Read the Policy Documents

Check the Insurance Product Information Document for an overview of the cover and read the policy wording for the full benefits, conditions and exclusions before you buy.

What Do Bronze, Silver and Gold Policies Mean?

Some insurers offer different levels of cover, which may be called Bronze, Silver and Gold. These names can make it easier to distinguish between options from the same insurer, but the cover behind them can vary between insurers.

For example, a Gold policy from one insurer won’t necessarily have the same benefits and limits as a Gold policy from another. Compare the actual cover, limits and excess rather than the name alone.

Bronze

Often the lowest-priced tier, with lower benefit limits or a higher excess. Check that cancellation and baggage cover remain high enough for the booking.

Silver

Often a middle level of price and benefits. Review where its limits differ from Bronze and whether those differences matter for the trip.

Gold

Often provides higher limits, additional benefits, and a lower excess amount. Higher cover only adds value when it protects costs or risks relevant to the holiday.

Compare Travel Insurance by Trip Type

Single Trip or Annual Multi-Trip

Single Trip Travel Insurance covers one holiday for the dates and destinations entered. Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance covers several trips during a 12-month period, with a maximum duration for each trip. Compare the expected number and length of holidays, not only the first premium shown.

Cruise Cover

If you’re going on a cruise, Cruise Travel Insurance can provide additional cruise-specific benefits, depending on the policy. These can include cover for cabin confinement and missed port departure.

Family Cover

Family Travel Insurance can cover eligible family members together under one policy. If you’re travelling as a family, tell us who you want to include and we’ll show you the options available.

Higher-Value Holidays

When the booking cost is above a standard cancellation limit, review Higher-Value Holiday Travel Insurance, Boost Cancellation or Top-Up Cancellation Cover. Eligibility and terms differ by product.

Comparing Travel Insurance With Medical Conditions or at an Older Age

Age or a medical history adds more variables to a Travel Insurance comparison. Different insurers use different eligibility criteria, medical questions, destination limits and maximum trip lengths.

Comparing Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Cover

We specialise in helping people find Travel Insurance for hundreds of pre-existing medical conditions. When getting a quote, tell us about any relevant medical conditions and complete the medical screening accurately.

We’ll use the information you provide, along with your trip details, to show you the policies available from our panel of insurers. You can then compare the price, cover limits and excesses of your options.

Older Travellers

Insurers have different age limits, and age can also affect things such as the maximum trip length or destinations available. We work with insurers with different age criteria, including selected options with no upper age limit.

Tell us your age and travel plans and we’ll show you the options available for your circumstances.

Compare Cover From Our Panel of Insurers

Just Travel Cover is a Travel Insurance broker, which means we work with a panel of insurers rather than offering just one policy. This gives us a range of options for different travellers, holidays and circumstances.

Not every insurer or policy will be suitable for everyone. When you get a quote, we use the information you provide to show you the eligible options available from our panel. You can then compare the price, benefits, limits and excesses before choosing your cover.

Learn more about the insurers on our Brand Showcase. Link each insurer or result to its policy wording and Insurance Product Information Document.
If Just Travel Cover cannot offer suitable cover, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association lists other firms specialising in Travel Insurance for people with serious medical conditions. Its Find Insurance service is available on 0370 950 1790.

What Is Not Covered by Travel Insurance?

Cover varies by insurer and policy. Depending on the option you choose, this can include:

  • Emergency medical treatment and medically necessary repatriation
  • Cancellation or cutting your trip short for an insured reason
  • Lost, stolen, damaged or delayed baggage and personal belongings
  • Travel delay and missed departure, where covered
  • Personal liability for accidental injury or damage
  • 24-hour emergency medical assistance while abroad

Cover limits, excesses and terms vary between policies, so compare what’s included in each option before you choose.

Exclusions vary by insurer. Common reasons a claim is not covered include:

  • A medical condition that was requested during screening and not declared
  • Cancellation because the traveller changed their mind
  • An event already known when the policy was purchased
  • A destination, cruise or activity outside the selected cover
  • Travelling against medical advice or for planned treatment
  • Items above the single-item limit or belongings left unattended
  • Claims where alcohol, drugs or reckless behaviour trigger an exclusion

This isn’t a complete list. Check the policy wording for the option you choose and contact our team if anything is unclear before you buy.

How do I compare Travel Insurance quotes?

Tell us about you and your holiday and we’ll show you the eligible policies available from our panel of insurers. Compare the price alongside the cancellation and medical limits, baggage cover, excesses and any additional cover you need before choosing your policy.Tell us about you and your holiday and we’ll show you the eligible policies available from our panel of insurers. What is the best Travel Insurance comparison site in the UK?

The most useful service is one that returns relevant policies and gives enough detail to judge cover as well as price. Just Travel Cover compares options from its own panel and offers specialist support for older travellers and people with pre-existing medical conditions. No comparison service represents every insurer in the market.

How do I find the best-value Travel Insurance?

Best value is the balance between price and the protection relevant to the holiday. Match cancellation cover to the booking cost, confirm all medical conditions are included, review the excess and check specialist benefits. A cheap policy becomes expensive when a necessary benefit or limit is missing.

Are Travel Insurance comparison sites the same as brokers?

No. A comparison site generally displays products from participating providers, while an insurance broker arranges cover and works with a defined panel. Just Travel Cover is a broker with an online comparison journey and a team available by telephone. The service does not compare every insurer in the UK market.

Why are my Travel Insurance quotes different prices?

Insurers use different criteria when pricing Travel Insurance. Factors such as your age, destination, trip length, medical history and holiday cost can affect the premium. Policies can also have different benefits, limits and excesses, so compare what’s included as well as the price.

Is the cheapest Travel Insurance quote the best option?

Not always. Check whether the cheapest option covers the full holiday cost, declared medical conditions, destinations and planned activities. Review the excess too. A higher premium may offer limits or terms that better reflect the trip.

How do I compare Travel Insurance for medical conditions?

Declare all the medical conditions requested during medical screening. We’ll use the information you provide to show you the eligible policies available from our panel. You can then compare the price, medical and cancellation limits, excesses and other benefits.

Why do I need to declare my medical conditions?

As you get older, it’s more likely you’ll be travelling with one or more pre-existing medical conditions. When getting Travel Insurance for over 80s, it’s important to declare all relevant medical conditions, even if they’re well managed or you don’t think they’ll affect your holiday. This allows us to compare policies from our panel of insurers that can provide suitable cover. If a condition isn’t declared, it could affect your ability to make a claim if you need to cancel your trip or require emergency medical treatment while you’re away.

Can I compare Travel Insurance online or by phone?

Yes. You can get a quote online or speak to our team on 0800 294 2969. Whichever route you choose, we’ll use your traveller and holiday details to show you the options available from our panel of insurers.

How many Travel Insurance providers does Just Travel Cover compare?

We work with a panel of Travel Insurance providers rather than comparing every insurer in the UK. Our panel and available products can change, so take a look at our Brand Showcase for more information about the insurers we currently work with.

When is the best time to compare Travel Insurance?

Compare cover soon after booking. Cancellation protection on an eligible Single Trip policy starts from the policy start date, while an Annual Multi-Trip policy follows the start date selected. Waiting until departure leaves the period before the holiday without that protection.
