Sciatica Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance for Sciatica
According to a National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) study, as many as 40% of people will experience sciatica at some point in their lifetime. Sciatica is the result of irritation in the sciatic nerve, running from your lower back to your feet. If you struggle with sciatica and plan to travel, securing specialist Sciatica Travel Insurance is important to cover your needs.
Our Sciatica Travel Insurance policies make sure of this, covering emergency medical expenses abroad (whether from your sciatica or sudden illness/injury), protecting you from hefty medical bills. It also includes cancellation, should your condition unexpectedly worsen or another unforeseen circumstance arises requiring you to cancel your trip, and repatriation. This is the cost of bringing you home in an emergency where a return is deemed medically necessary.

Travel Insurance for Sciatica FAQs
Do I need to declare Sciatica on Travel Insurance?
Yes. Sciatica is a pre-existing medical condition, meaning it needs to be declared on your Travel Insurance. Not declaring this would mean you would be responsible for any medical expenses abroad if you needed to receive treatment for your condition, which can be extremely costly. Not declaring a pre-existing medical condition can also lead to other, unrelated, claims being declined.
What does Sciatica Travel Insurance cover?
Sciatica Travel Insurance covers emergency medical expenses abroad (whether for your condition, or sudden illness/injury). It also covers cancellation if an unexpected change in circumstances (i.e. illness or injury) means you have to cancel your trip, and repatriation if you experience sudden illness abroad and need to return home. Baggage cover can also be included which protects your luggage in the event it is lost or stolen during your trip.
Is there an upper-age limit for Sciatica Travel Insurance?
No. Our Sciatica Travel Insurance policies are offered with no upper-age limit, ensuring everyone can enjoy their travels with peace of mind. Whether you’re experiencing sciatica in your 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s, we’ll be able to help you find an insurer who can provide cover.
How does having Sciatica affect the cost of insurance?
Having Sciatica may affect the cost of your insurance, but there are other factors that go into determining the price of your policy. These include your age, the destination and duration of your trip. This means you should declare any pre-existing medical conditions in full no matter how they affect the cost, as failure to do so could impact your ability to claim if/when needed.
Can you fly with Sciatica?
Yes, you can fly with Sciatica, provided your doctor has confirmed you are medically fit to travel. After being given the go-ahead, it may be worth informing your airline so they can make any necessary adjustments too.
What if I have recently had, or am awaiting surgery for Sciatica?
If you have had or are due to have surgery for sciatica, we can still offer specialist Travel Insurance. If you have recently had surgery, head to our Post-Surgery Travel Insurance page for more information, or consult our Travel Insurance for Those Awaiting Surgery page if you are due to have surgery.
