Find Travel Insurance with Cover for Pregnancy

As a mother-to-be, you’ll want to make sure you have everything prepared for you and your baby before taking a trip. That includes arranging Travel Insurance that covers your specific needs. While pregnancy is not considered a pre-existing medical condition, it’s still important to make sure your Travel Insurance provides the cover you expect. That way, you can enjoy your trip with peace of mind knowing that should the unexpected happen, you won’t need to worry about costly medical expenses.

Pregnancy Travel Insurance at Just Travel Cover

Normal pregnancies are not covered under Travel Insurance, since in these cases it is generally safe to travel. However, if any unknown complications relating to pregnancy were to arise, these may be covered under certain policies. At Just Travel Cover, we offer Travel Insurance policies with cover for pregnancy, although each insurer has different rules about what’s covered, and how far into your pregnancy you can travel. You’ll also need to declare any pre-existing medical conditions to help us match you to the right insurer/s for your needs. Once we have all the information we need, we’ll be able to provide you with different cover levels including bronze, silver, and gold.  If you are unsure on the pregnancy terms, you can call our office and we’ll talk you through your choices to help you make an informed decision.

Is pregnancy classed as a pre-existing medical condition for Travel Insurance?

No. Pregnancy is not classed as a pre-existing medical condition for Travel Insurance. However, it’s still important to declare any other conditions you have that could require treatment while you are away. You will need to make sure you are fit to travel and are not travelling against the advice of your doctor or midwife, and that you check the specific wording when comparing policies. This is because each insurer has different restrictions about travelling when pregnant, along with different air and cruise lines. All policies and claims are subject to acceptance criteria and policy terms and conditions.

Which Travel Insurance covers pregnancy?

If you are unsure on the terms surrounding pregnancy, get in touch with our expert team on 0800 294 2969 to discuss things further.
Does Travel Insurance cover cancellation due to pregnancy?
No, Travel Insurance does not cover cancellation due to pregnancy, depending on the circumstances. If you discover you are pregnant after booking your trip and wish to cancel, for example, you may have to pay cancellation costs. However, if you have been advised against travelling by your doctor or midwife and need to cancel, this may be covered depending on the specific insurer.  Please ensure you understand the terms of the policy you are considering.
Does pregnancy affect Travel Insurance?

No, not always. Most pregnant women can get Travel Insurance easily provided the pregnancy is normal and there are no known complications. If there are any complications, this may affect the price and availability of insurers as each has different conditions.  If we cannot provide the cover you are looking for, we can assist in connecting you with a provider who may be able to help.
