Ambassador Cruise Line Cruise Insurance Requirements
Find Cover for Your Cruise With Ambassador Cruise Line
From the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean to the warmth of the Canary Islands, there are many places a cruise with Ambassador Cruise Line could take you. As a condition of booking, all guests are required to have valid Travel Insurance that specifically covers cruises, along with some other requirements, which we’ll take you through below. At Just Travel Cover, we offer specialist insurance policies such as Cruise Travel Insurance, enabling you to sail confidently with peace of mind.
Required Cover for an Ambassador Cruise
Suitable to Cover Cruises: Ambassador Cruise Line requires all passengers to have cruise-specific Travel Insurance at the time of booking. This is to cover you for any unforeseen events such as illness or medical emergencies, along with incidents more unique to cruising, such as missed port departures, cabin confinement, or curtailment.
Tip: At Just Travel Cover, we make securing Cruise Travel Insurance easy. All you need to do is answer ‘Yes’ to the cruise question when getting a quote.
Full Trip and All Destinations: Your Ambassador Cruise Insurance should cover the entire duration of your voyage and all destinations on the itinerary. This includes any related stays before/after the cruise, to make sure you are protected for your entire trip.
Emergency Medical Expenses: Your policy must include a minimum of £2 million to cover medical expenses and emergency repatriation. This includes cruise-related incidents, pre-existing medical conditions, and COVID-19. Other requirements include 24/7 emergency assistance, on-board medical treatment and emergency evacuation from the ship.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: Any pre-existing medical conditions (those that applied before booking your cruise) must be declared on your insurance policy to ensure they are covered should you need to seek related medical treatment onboard your Ambassador cruise. Non-disclosure risks invalidating your policy in the event of later claims made, making you responsible for paying all expenses.
Cancellation Cover: Make sure your policy provides adequate cover for trip cancellation or disruption, such as illness, injury, or unforeseen emergencies. Cancellation cover provides protection, allowing you to be reimbursed for expenses that would otherwise be non-refundable (for example, if you had to cancel or cut short your trip). For added protection, explore our Top-Up Cancellation: extra cover, extra peace of mind.
Proof of Cruise Insurance: Ambassador Cruise Line requires all guests to show proof of insurance when booking their cruise. Make sure to have a digital and/or printed copy to present upon request.

Ambassador Cruise Line Cruise Requirements FAQs
How can I ensure my Cruise Insurance meets Ambassador Cruise Line's requirements?
To meet Ambassador Cruise Line’s requirements, your cruise insurance must include:
- Cruise-specific cover – protecting you in the event of any cruise-related incidents that may arise onboard the ship. This must run for the full duration of your cruise and include all scheduled destinations.
- Emergency medical expenses – with at least £2m for medical expenses and emergency repatriation, 24/7 emergency assistance, onboard medical treatment, and emergency evacuation.
- Pre-existing medical conditions cover – to ensure treatment for any pre-existing conditions onboard where required
- Cancellation cover – should you need to cancel your trip or experience any travel-related disruptions
Note: Proof of insurance will be required when booking your cruise with Ambassador Cruise Lines, so make sure to arrange your cover early.
What happens if I don’t have cruise insurance at boarding?
If you are unable to show proof of insurance, you will be denied boarding your cruise with Ambassador Cruise Line. Make sure to have both your insurance documents and a valid passport ready when boarding to avoid any issues.
Why is cancellation cover important for Ambassador Cruise Line's cruises?
Without cancellation cover, you could lose some or all of the money you’ve paid for your cruise if you end up having to cancel before departure. Ensuring your policy includes adequate cancellation cover helps you recover costs that would normally be non-refundable, protecting your high-value holiday. If standard cancellation cover is not sufficient, we offer Top-Up Cancellation which brings an additional £50,000 cancellation cover per person to give you added peace of mind.
How far in advance should I book my cruise insurance?
Ambassador Cruise Line recommends passengers book their cruise insurance as soon as they book their trip. This is to ensure you are covered for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise before departure.
