Can I include my grandchildren on the same policy?
Yes. You can include your grandchildren on the same policy. This makes it easier to keep track of your insurance documentation when travelling with everything included in one policy. To add grandchildren onto your Travel Insurance policy, select ‘Family’ when asked ‘Who would you like to insure?’ and fill out the details.
Can I still get Travel Insurance if I have pre-existing medical conditions?
Yes. You can still get Travel Insurance if you have pre-existing medical conditions. Just make sure these are declared in full when taking out your policy initially, otherwise you may not be covered when claiming for treatment later.
What pre-existing medical conditions are covered under Travel Insurance for grandparents?
At Just Travel Cover, we work with a panel of multiple leading insurers who can cover a wide range of pre-existing conditions such as:
- Heart & Circulatory
- Autoimmune
- Cancer
- Mental Health
- Digestive
- Respiratory
- Kidney
- Women’s Health & Hormonal

Head to our pre-existing medical conditions section to find your condition or give us a call on 0800 294 2969 if you don’t see it listed when getting a quote online.
Is there an upper-age limit for Travel Insurance as a grandparent?
No. At Just Travel Cover, we offer Travel Insurance policies with no-upper age limit, meaning you can still enjoy travel whether you’re in your 60s or your twilight years. Note that some insurers may specify different maximum trip durations depending on your age, affecting some older travellers. Always check the policy wording and be sure to get in touch with us if you need assistance.
What if my grandchild has a pre-existing medical condition?
You can add both yours and your grandchild’s pre-existing medical conditions onto the same policy. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to help add any additional information onto your policy after filling out the quote form.
What else do I need to take my grandchildren on holiday?
If you’re taking your grandchildren away on holiday, it’s advisable to get written permission from both parents if possible. This ensures that, should you be stopped at border control in another country, you can easily prove your relationship to the child (especially if you have different surnames). You’ll also need a valid UK passport for each grandchild in addition to your own, and their Global Health Insurance Cards (GHIC) if applicable. Note that these are not a substitute for Travel Insurance and provide only basic access to state-funded treatment abroad at the same rate as a citizen of that country.
