Pregnancy Travel Insurance
Find Travel Insurance with Cover for Pregnancy
If you’re planning a trip while pregnant, it’s important to understand what your Travel Insurance will and won’t cover so you can travel with confidence. At Just Travel Cover, we can provide quotes for customers who are pregnant and planning to travel.
Does Travel Insurance Cover Pregnancy?
Travel Insurance does not provide cover for normal pregnancy or routine childbirth where there are no unforeseen complications. This means that standard pregnancy and delivery costs abroad would not be covered. If you have a known pregnancy-related condition or complication, this will not be covered under the policy. In some cases, cover may be provided for unexpected illness, injury, or unknown complications that arise, subject to the insurer’s terms and conditions. Each insurer on our panel has their own rules regarding pregnancy, including how far into your pregnancy you can travel. As a result, whether we can offer you a quote, and the level of cover available will depend on your individual circumstances, including how many weeks pregnant you are at the time of travel.
Is Pregnancy Classed As A Pre-Existing Medical Condition for Travel Insurance?
Pregnancy itself is not treated as a pre-existing medical condition and as such we do not screen pregnancy or pregnancy related conditions. It’s important to ensure you are fit to travel, not travelling against medical advice, and that you carefully review the policy wording before purchasing. All policies are subject to insurer acceptance criteria, as well as full terms and conditions. If you’re unsure about what cover may be available to you, it’s always best to check before you travel so you can make an informed decision

Pregnancy Travel Insurance FAQs
Do you need to declare pregnancy on Travel Insurance?
No. Pregnancy does not typically need to be declared on Travel Insurance as it is not considered a pre-existing medical condition.
Do I need special Travel Insurance if pregnant?
No. You do not need special Travel Insurance to cover pregnancy, since it is not classed as a pre-existing medical condition. As long as you have informed your doctor or midwife of your travel plans, have no existing complications, and arrange Travel Insurance that covers your destination/s and any other pre-existing conditions, you should be good to go with a standard policy.
