At Just Travel Cover, we understand that declaring medical conditions can sometimes feel like the most complicated part of buying Travel Insurance.
That’s why we’ve made updates to our medical declaration process to make it clearer, easier to follow, and more supportive for customers.
In this blog, we’ll explain what’s changed, why we’ve made these improvements, and what it means for you when you’re arranging your cover.
We’ve recently updated the way we ask about pre-existing medical conditions when you apply for a Travel Insurance quote.
The changes are designed to improve the overall experience when declaring medical conditions, helping customers move through the process with more confidence and less uncertainty.
As part of the update, we’ve:
While some of the questions may now look a little different, the purpose remains the same to make sure your policy reflects your individual circumstances and helps provide the right cover for your trip.
We know medical screening can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure what information you need to provide.
By updating the medical declaration process, we’ve been able to improve clarity and consistency while making the customer journey more straightforward. The updated question set is designed to ask the right questions at the right time, helping customers provide more accurate information from the start.
For many travellers, this could also mean that historic conditions which no longer affect day-to-day health may not need to be declared.
These changes help us provide quotes that are more reflective of your current circumstances, while continuing to ensure customers receive appropriate cover for their needs.
If you already have a Travel Insurance policy in place and have previously declared medical conditions, those declarations will remain on your existing policy.
When you next arrange cover, you’ll simply complete the updated medical screening questions based on your circumstances at that time.
Declaring your medical conditions accurately is an important part of arranging Travel Insurance and helps ensure your policy is tailored to your individual needs.
At Just Travel Cover, we understand that many travellers have pre-existing medical conditions, which is why we work with specialist insurers to help provide suitable cover options.
If you become unwell or are involved in an accident abroad, failing to declare a relevant pre-existing medical condition could affect your cover or lead to difficulties when making a claim.
With the cost of emergency medical treatment overseas continuing to rise and many claims reaching tens of thousands of pounds, particularly in destinations such as the USA and Spain falling ill abroad can quickly become extremely expensive without the right Travel Insurance in place.
That’s why it’s so important to take the time to provide complete and accurate information when purchasing your policy. Doing so helps ensure you have the appropriate cover in place and gives you greater peace of mind while travelling.
Pre-existing medical conditions are common and declaring them does not necessarily mean you will be unable to get cover. In many cases, cover can still be provided, although terms and premiums may vary depending on your individual circumstances.
Any ongoing medical conditions that still require treatment, medication, monitoring, or regular reviews should continue to be declared where relevant within the medical screening process.
If you’re ever unsure whether something needs to be declared, it’s always best to include it or seek guidance before completing your purchase.
