What is cancellation cover?

Cancellation cover is a key part of a Travel Insurance policy, providing financial protection if you need to cancel your holiday unexpectedly due to:

  • Sudden illness (whether arising from a declared pre-existing medical condition or another illness)
  • Accidental injury which prevents you from travelling
  • The sudden loss of a family member
  • Someone in your travel party becoming unable to travel due to sudden illness
  • Redundancy
  • Being called for jury service or to attend court as a witness

If one of these circumstances were to happen, your cancellation policy should cover pre-booked transport or transfers, accommodation, and other non-refundable expenses such as pre-booked tours or excursions.
