1. Holi Festival

Holi is one of India’s most popular and well-known festivals which is also known as the Festival of Colours, Festival of Spring and Festival of Love. Marking the arrival of spring, Holi celebrates the beginning of the new season and the victory of good over evil.

Depending which region you visit, the colourful and joyful celebrations will vary. The night before Holi, the festivities are started with a bonfire, called Holika Dahan, this symbolises the burning of evil. The following day, people come together to play with the vibrant colour powders and water, dance to music and share sweets and delicacies with family and friends.

2. Taj Mahal

Visiting the Taj Mahal is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should not be missed when traveling to India. The iconic white marble mausoleum, located in Agra, is a symbol of love and an architectural masterpiece. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Visitors can marvel at the intricate carvings and inlay work, as well as the reflection of the Taj Mahal in the surrounding pools. It is recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and witness the sunrise over the monument, creating a magical atmosphere. Audio guides and tour guides are available for a more in-depth understanding of the history and significance of the Taj Mahal.
