USA

One of the best ways to experience all the different landscapes and climate zones in America is by visiting one of the beautiful USA national parks. The USA has a growing list of 400 sites that are considered national parks, including 63 major national parks. They are popular amongst adventure seekers for camping, hiking, and stargazing. If you’re planning your trip to one of these incredible USA National Parks, be sure to find Travel Insurance for America so you can explore with peace of mind knowing you’re covered.

Whilst every national park is amazing, here are five of the best national parks in the USA.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone became the world’s first national park in 1872 stretching up to 2.2 million acres of land, meaning the list of activities to do is endless. 95% of the park is situated in Wyoming, a fraction of the park is situated in Idaho, and about 3% is in Montana. Be aware that the animals who live in the national park are wild but also why the national park is so popular. You can find nearly 300 species of birds, 16 species of fish, 5 species of amphibians, six species of reptiles and 67 species of mammals – including 7 native ungulate species and 2 bear species.

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon can be found in Northern Arizona encompassing 278 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. The national park is divided into rims and is tribal land. The Grand Canyon is a sacred lace to local tribes who have lived in and around the national park for at least 12,000 years. The Grand Canyon attracts five million people annually every year.

Yosemite National Park

Found in California, this national park spans across nearly 1,200 square miles. If you visit Yosemite, expect towering waterfalls, millennia-old sequoia trees, daunting cliff faces and some of the most unique rock formations in the USA. Despite the size of the national park, most of the tourist activity takes place within the 8-square-mile area of Yosemite Valley. At the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, you will find Half Dome and El Capitan is situated on the north side of Yosemite Valley; these are the national park’s most famous landmarks and excellent hiking trails. Whether you are an expert or beginner hiker, anyone can enjoy the Yosemite as guided tours and climbing lessons are available from local adventure outfitters, don’t forget your Travel Insurance.

The Rocky Mountains National Park

The Rocky Mountains are one of the most beautiful mountain ranges on earth, that dominates the western North American continent. The Rockies extend from New Mexico in the southwestern United States, passes through 6 US states and 2 Canadian provinces to northern British Columbia in Canada.

Glacier National Park

If you are an adventurous visitor seeking wilderness steeped in human history, this national park is for you! With over 700 miles of trails in Montana, you will find a showcase of melting glaciers, alpine meadows, carved valleys, and spectacular lakes. This national park is considered the “Crown of the Continent” and takes its name from the many glaciers and glacial forces that shaped its rugged typography over two million years. Whilst the park is still home to more than a dozen glaciers, even more impressive are the massive U-shaped valleys and hulking granite peaks carved by long-ago ice flows.
