Don’t forget your Travel Insurance for Egypt, it should be one of your top priorities.

If you’re looking for a holiday that has it all, look no further than Egypt. There’s something for everyone in this beautiful country, from historical sites dating back to ancient times to the Red Sea coastline and the vibrant party scene. The year-round warm climate makes Egypt the perfect place to escape the cold winter weather.

Egypt is a fascinating country and contains some of the oldest and most iconic sites globally.  Even though it’s 96% desert, it’s full of life and a destination for memory books.

Whether you’re visiting the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings or taking a trip down the River Nile to visit the waterside temples, these world-renowned experiences won’t disappoint.

No matter what your itinerary may be, whether you’re relaxing at the beach or exploring the ancient pyramids of Giza, you need Travel Insurance to protect yourself and your travel companions against any unexpected events.

We’re here to prepare you for your holiday in Egypt.

We want your holiday to be memorable, so at Just Travel Cover, we have compiled a list of everything you should know about Egypt.

Remember your visa

For entry into Egypt, remember your visa. For most nationalities, including citizens of the UK, you can obtain a visa upon arrival at Cairo International Airport or go online via the Egyptian Government’s official e-visa portal.

A single entry visa is valid for three months from the issue and entitles the holder to one month of travel in Egypt.

Dress respectfully

Although the tourist areas of Egypt are considered modern, if you’re heading to any of the country’s monuments, mosques or famous historical sites, you should respect their culture and dress modestly.

Both men and women should dress conservatively when outside of the holiday resorts. Keep your legs and shoulders covered. Women must cover their hair at religious locations, and anybody entering a mosque must remove their shoes.

Always have hygiene products on hand

Access to clean bathroom facilities is not always easy in Egypt, and depending on where you go, you may find they are different from your facilities at home.

Beyond your resort or hotel, most Egyptian toilets are either bidet tubes or squat toilets. So it’s always a good idea to take pocket tissues or toilet paper and a bottle of hand sanitiser with you when leaving the resort.

Think Cash

Debit and credit cards are not as widely accepted in Egypt as in Western countries. Although most hospitable venues accept major credit cards, it is better to be safe. Carry cash around with you or ask the cashier or waiter if cards are accepted before ordering or purchasing anything. ATMs can be found throughout most cities but are less common in smaller towns and rural areas.

Is Egypt classed as Europe for Travel Insurance?

When buying single trip insurance, you need to list all individual countries you are visiting, so you’ll need to select Egypt from the drop-down list. If you’re buying an annual policy, it’s a little more complex, as some insurers rate Egypt as Europe, and others rate it as Worldwide. You can see this in the definitions section of the Policy wording for each insurer.
