Staff Stories

.“Just Travel Cover is built on apprentices. I started in 2006 as a Business Admin apprentice. I moved to supervisor and then assistant call centre manager and now I’m the call centre manager”

We’ve managed to grab five minutes with Layla, to find out more about her role and how she has carved her career here at Just Travel Cover.

Hi Layla,

Thank you for finding the time for a quick chat about your career here at Just Travel Cover.

Firstly, how long have you worked here?

” I’ve worked here for 18 years now, I left school and joined Just Travel Cover as a Business Admin apprentice and I’m still here!”

Wow, 18 years! Have you been given opportunities to learn and progress throughout your time here?

Yes, after completing my initial Level 2 Business Admin Apprenticeship, I’ve went on to complete a number of other qualifications including industry specific qualifications and a management qualification relevant to my role.”

So what is your job now? What does it involve?

I’m now Call Centre Manager which involves performance management of the call centre and its staff

You’ve managed to progress into a senior role. Why did you choose to go down the apprenticeship route?

I had very good grades and had my heart set on college, but I met a few tutors at an open day that made me feel like I wasn’t good enough.  That’s when I decided that I wanted to do an apprenticeship and start earning my own money while learning.

What work did you have to complete to gain your Level 2 Business Admin apprenticeship?

I do believe that you get out what you put into an Apprenticeship, and I think I’m proof of that.  Work hard and the rewards will be great.

That’s some great advice Layla. We’ve got a couple of questions left, what would you say is the worst part about your job?

I love the challenges the role brings, there’s nothing I dislike”

What do you love about your job?

Everything!

Lastly, how was your first day at Just Travel Cover?

We won’t go there…

That sounds like an interesting first day ha! We’re sure it wasn’t that bad Layla… You’re here 18 years later!
