Staff Stories

I started as an apprentice in 2008 and I’m now part of the in-house training department.

I’ve loved seeing the company grow and enjoy helping new apprentices learn and develop within the business

Hi Amy,

I hope you’re ready!

How long have you worked at Just Travel Cover for now?

I have worked here for 16 years”

Have you always worked here? What is your background?

“I left school and start my apprenticeship with another employer in debt collection, I soon found that wasn’t for me and my training provider helped me find another placement here at Just Travel Cover. From the minute I walked in the door for my interview I knew this was where I wanted to work. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.”

It seems to be a common theme, once you step through those doors nobody wants to leave! What appealed to you most about an apprenticeship?

“When I left school I started a health & social care college course but I wanted to earn money, one of my friends had started an apprenticeship and I loved the fact I could earn money whilst still gaining a qualification.”

What did you have to do, to complete your apprenticeship?

I would attend my apprenticeship provider once a week, here I would complete course work. My assessor would come to my work place to observe me in my roll to work towards the completion of my apprenticeship.”

You have obviously completed your apprenticeship now, what is your current job role?

” I am a Sales and Service Advisor as well as being responsible for Training. In my typical day I take calls and emails to help service our customers looking for Travel Insurance, assist with staff queries relating to the products we offer and ensure they provide accurate information to new and existing customers. I also monitor staff calls for competency and to identify any additional training that may be required”

That sounds like quite the responsibility, what support have you received to help you grow into your current role?

” So, I started here on a level 2 business admin apprenticeship, and then I was given the opportunity to complete an industry recognised qualification as well as my Level 3 apprenticeship in learning and development.”

Lastly, what is your favourite part of your job?

“There’s always something new to learn”

Thanks Amy. It’s been great finding out more about your career here at Just Travel Cover!
