Staff Stories

1. What qualifications do I need?

You need 5 passes to be able to apply for an apprenticeship scheme.

2. What if I don’t pass?

If you don’t pass, we can still offer you an apprenticeship however, you will have to resit your Maths and English.

3. Do I need a training provider?

No we take care of this for you.

4. When would I have to start?

You can start your apprenticeship as soon as you finish school. Unlike some other apprenticeships you don’t have to wait until the school year begins. You can complete your final exam and be earning a wage and qualification the very next day if you wanted.

5. Are apprenticeships free?

Yes, there is no cost to you for an apprenticeship scheme. You even get paid monthly!

6. How old do I have to be?

You can apply for an apprenticeship while you’re still at school but you’ll need to be 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays to start the apprenticeship. However, if you’re like Katie with an August birthday then you can start at 15 as long as you have left school.

7. Do I get paid?

Yes, all apprenticeships receive a salary in line with the minimum apprentice wage which is currently £10,400. This is paid monthly into your bank account on the last working day of the month. You will also get our apprentice bonus, which is up to £1,000 split over your 12 month apprenticeship. This is simply for being part of the Just Travel Cover family.

8. What do I have to do?

As an apprentice sales advisor, your job role is to provide first class customer service by answering any questions customers may have about our Travel Insurance products including quotations and using our bespoke IT system for medical screening. You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week to start with between 9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday with additional evening and weekend working required at a later date.

9. Is it like school?

No. You will be working in call centre based in Sunderland. You will find a range of people completing different roles from sales and service advisors, broker support, marketing, finance and compliance.

10. I’m nervous about taking phone calls, do I have to?

Leaving school and going straight into a working environment can be daunting and it is perfectly normal to feel this way. We promise, we’re a friendly bunch and you will feel right at home. Taking calls is part of the customer service advisor role, but we’re with you every step of the way.
