Top Travel Trips for Cuba

Travelling to Cuba is a little different from travelling to other nations, so here is everything you might need to know before your departure.

Understand the Cuban currency

The Cuban Peso (CUP) and the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) are the two official currencies of Cuba. The CUP is used mainly by native Cubans, whereas international visitors tend to use Cuban Pesos. Cuban Convertible Peso banknotes contain photos of national sites, and Cuban Pesos have portraits of Cuban heroes on them. Because the CUC is the only currency accepted in Cuba, you will need to convert your money once you arrive. Most establishments in Cuba only accept cash, so make sure this is top of your priority list!

Remember your Cuban Tourist Card

A Cuban Tourist Card, often known as a Cuban Visa or a Cuba Holiday Visa, is a simple but important document that you must acquire before flying to Cuba. Make sure you have your Tourist Card before flying since airlines will not allow you to fly without one. You need one for each member of your party, no matter what their age, so make sure you’re prepared! A Cuban Tourist Card grants you entry to the country for a maximum of 30 days from the day of your arrival; you will need to acquire a new tourist card each time you would like to visit Cuba

Plan your local transportation

There are two major ways to navigate Cuba. The first choice is to rent a vehicle, while the second is to make use of the public transport system. Because all of these services are maintained by the government, the price difference between the two options is insignificant. We recommend that you reserve ahead of time to avoid any stress.

Never drink tap water/ice

Even at a hotel – unless the water is bottled. It’s a surefire way to use up your medical cover.

In addition, all policies now provide cover if you need to cancel your holiday because you contract Covid-19 before you travel, although each insurer has different terms and some insurers do not provide cover for covid-related claims within the first 7 days of the policy start date.
